CPAP Flow Generator

Weekly Cleaning – Wipe down CPAP flow generator with a damp cloth. DO NOT IMMERSE IN WATER!

Monthly Cleaning – Check inlet filter. If discoloured or dirty, replace. You can contact Medpro for replacement filters.

Water Chamber

Use distilled or bottled water in the humidifier water chamber. Do not use tap water.

Daily Cleaning - Check the water level in your water chamber each day to ensure you have enough for the evening. If you need to add water, empty out the water in the chamber and replace with fresh water. Do not top up the water already in the chamber. ALWAYS empty and replace.

Weekly Cleaning – Disassemble the water chamber if possible and soak and clean in a mild detergent. Rinse with water and let air dry.  Do not place in the dishwasher unless indicated in the manufacturer literature that the chamber is dishwasher safe.

Tubing

Weekly Cleaning – Soak and clean the wide bore tubing in mild detergent, rinse with water and hang to dry.

Mask Interface

Daily Cleaning – Wipe the mask or pillow cushion where it contacts the skin with a mild detergent and then rinse with water. Let air dry.

Weekly Cleaning – Disassemble the mask and soak and clean in a mild detergent, rinse with water and let air dry. Reassemble when dry.

Manufacturer recommended replacement schedules

CPAP mask Should be checked weekly for signs of wear and tear
Generally replaced every 6-12 months to ensure proper fit.
Note: Most insurance carriers allow annual replacement of masks.
CPAP tubing Should be checked weekly for signs of wear and tear.
Should be replaced if weak spots or leaking occurs.
Water Chambers Should be cleaned each week.
Should be replaced if corrosion or mineral build up occurs.
Filters Reusable filters should be cleaned each week and replaced if showing signs of wear.
Disposable pollen filters should be replaced every 1-3 months.
CPAP machine There is no routine maintenance schedule for most CPAP units. Only if your unit has failed or you suspect it is not functioning properly does your unit require servicing.
